AAP termed the bail of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as a victory of truth.

Friday was a day of celebration for the Aam Aadmi Party, where senior leaders and junior functionaries welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Drenched in the incessant rain but smiling happily, AAP workers started dancing on the streets and distributing sweets when Kejriwal came out of the Tihar jail premises at 6.25 pm - where he has been lodged for the last several months in connection with alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 and the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested the CM while he was in custody. Except for a brief period of 21 days in May-June during which he was granted interim bail, Kejriwal was lodged in jail since then. With his release, all the AAP leaders arrested in the excise policy case have now got bail.
Senior party leader Satyendar Jain, who was arrested on money laundering charges in a separate case, is still behind bars. AAP's celebrations on Friday were centred around three points - outside the Tihar complex, where party functionaries waited impatiently for Kejriwal to emerge and roared with appreciation when he first shook their hands as he exited the jail; And the AAP headquarters at Ravishankar Shukla Lane near Mandi House and the chief minister's official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, both were adorned with the CM's photograph and several hoardings bearing captions such as "Satyamev Jayate" and "Kejriwal has arrived." Soon after the court granted bail to Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal stepped out of the CM residence and distributed sweets to AAP functionaries. "Today BJP's plan has failed. They want to remain in power by putting opposition leaders in jail," she said. Also, in a post on X Sunita Kejriwal said, congratulations to the AAP family! Congratulations for staying strong. I also wish for the early release of our other leaders. Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court, while granting relief to Kejriwal, strongly reiterated that "bail is the rule and jail is the exception, and also stressed that personal liberty should be given priority over prolonged detention pending trial, especially when it does not threaten social interests or derail the judicial process. Rejecting the CBI's plea that Kejriwal should be sent to the trial court for bail, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan said that the evolved jurisprudence of bail is important for a socially sensitive judicial process. The bench further said that the investigation by the CBI in the case has been completed and the trial is likely to be delayed due to the involvement of a large number of witnesses and documents. Justice Bhuyan also revived the controversial "caged parrot" metaphor for the CBI, highlighting concerns about the federal agency's integrity and operational objectives. Citing the Supreme Court's observations, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "The court has clearly stated that the country's premier agency has acted with a spirit of vindictiveness." Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia - who himself is out on bail in connection with the excise policy - said the court's order was a "tight slap" on the Bharatiya Janata Party. "The BJP must apologise to the country as it has been exposed today before the Supreme Court for blatantly misusing the ED and the CBI," Sisodia said. Meanwhile, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said the BJP cannot afford to demoralise Kejriwal by backstabbing him.
