The accused of raping a Dalit girl in Ayodhya was shot in the leg by the police in an encounter. Shahban was running away with his partner Mohammad taking advantage of the darkness, when the police stopped him, he started firing. The police chased Shahban and shot him in the leg. He fell as soon as he was shot. He has been admitted to the district hospital. His partner fled. The incident is from Khandasa police station area. SP Rural Atul Kumar Sonkar said- The encounter took place near Vinayakpur turn. The police was checking here. At 10 pm, two youths passed by on a bike. The police stopped them, but they started running. Seeing their suspicious activity, the police chased them.

Seeing the police coming behind, the accused took the bike towards the bushes. They started firing at the police. Seeing both of them firing, the police team came into action. In self-defense, the police fired at both of them. During this, one of the accused was shot in the leg. The other accused escaped. Motorcycle, 315 bore pistol, live cartridges and shells were recovered from the arrested accused. After surrendering, the police team asked the accused his name and the reason for running away, then he told the whole incident. He said- My name is Shahban. I am a resident of Raipatti village. The police team was looking for me. I had gone to get money so that I could run away to another district, but was caught. My friend Monu ran away, he is also named in the rape case.

On September 5, the 16-year-old girl and her father gave a complaint in the police station. It was told that a Muslim youth has committed the crime of raping their daughter. 20 days ago, he forcibly took the girl to the field. Here he did bad things with her in the presence of his friend Monu. After this, he started threatening the girl. The accused threatened to kill the victim. Said- If she tells anyone, he will kill her family members. After this, he started catching the victim on the way. He started pressuring her to have physical relations again and again. The girl had stopped coming out of the house. When the family members questioned her, emphasizing on her changed behavior. Then the victim told the whole story.
